I bought my GMC about four years ago and while being dragged into another dealership over the weekend it really made me realize how luck and blessed I was to have a salesperson who was nice and knowledgeable. I mean the guy that my friend had treated her as if she was just another number. I couldn’t help but think back to when I bought a my car. I was in orange county GMC and the salesperson greeted me with a smile and information. I was provided all the numbers and options I requested and I was out of there in less than two hours, which is pretty good in comparison to the four hours we spent at one dealership over the weekend. I bought my GMC from that salesperson for a couple of reasons, honesty, security and friendliness. It just amazed me to see how many salespersons are not like this.

While I was stopped in traffic I happened to look over and see a beautiful Vauxhall Astra Insignia in the lane right next to me. I had been thinking about buying a new car for quite some time but I had not yet decided what make or model I wanted. As soon as I saw that I knew that I wanted to drive into the dealer and take one for a test drive. As soon as I finished my shopping that is precisely what I did.
For the past year and a half my daughter has worked at a part-time job in order to save money to buy her very first car. When all of her other friends were out shopping and spending their paychecks she would be at the bank depositing hers. I am so proud of all she has accomplished. She told me the other day that she had seen a very nice used Vauxhall Astra Corsa that she would really like to have. She said she did not think she had quite enough money but that she hated to miss out on the deal. I told her we could take a look at it.

Thursday, April 21st, 2011I think that is such a good idea. I saw a show– I can’t remember which one, but it was a daytime talk show — and they had a woman on there who had had a car donated. They also had some people on there who had themselves made car donations. I don’t know if these were the recipients of those donations or just people in general, but it was a good show. It was heartening to see what a difference a car made in these people’s lives. When you can’t get anywhere — and with the public transit systems in many cities, it is hard to get anywhere at all sometimes — then you can’t get to jobs or daycare. Or, if you are on the bus, unless the daycare is on the same route, you might have to take two or three buses to get your kids and yourself where you need to go.
